Professional Profile

KSJLaw was formed in September of 2007, as a sole proprietorship. Prior to embarking on a solo practice, I spent 12 years as a law clerk/patent agent/attorney in various private practice environments and three years as Chief Patent Counsel of the Pillsbury Company. As such, I gained broad experience including not only preparation and prosecution of patent applications in both the United States and internationally, but also extensive experience in portfolio management and IP strategy.

In particular, I have prepared and prosecuted patent applications in the areas of semiconductor processing, medical devices, including coatings and electronic components thereof, pharmaceuticals, chemical engineering, and cleaners, detergents and other consumer products. I have extensive experience conducting freedom to operate searches, and counseling and actions in light of any results thereof, including design around, reexamination, and/or opinion preparation.

I have been a rising star in intellectual property, in the top "40 Under 40", and a SuperLawyer, all recognitions from her peers and colleagues, as collected and published by Minnesota Law and Politics. I am active in local and national bar associations, and participates in local pro bono efforts.
